The world of Dogboy

We first discovered Dogboy (Philip Huntinton) at this years Camberwell College of Art MA show, after being drawn to his colours like a moth to a lightbulb. The pieces on show were from his ongoing project ‘Above & Below’ – exploring an alternate world where the wealthy live in luxury on the planet’s surface, while the poor inhabit sub-terranian caves and complexes.

Dogboy’s influences definitely show through in what he does, particularly being inspired by artist Paul Nobel, Trash Culture and Japanes Sci-Fi, and there’s a boldness to his work that we just can’t get enough of. His comic style of illustration, mixed with often offset bright hues creates an appertising slice of illustration to be savoured. We love what he’s doing, and will definitely be keeping an eye on how his work develops.
