Rick Berkelmans: our illustrator of the week

Taking up the position of Wrap’s ‘Illustrator of the week’ this week is the uber talented Dutchman Rick Berkelmans, who recently sent us this awesome print (above) - thanks Rick!

Rick lives with his girlfriend in Breda, a city in the south of the Netherlands, and that’s where he runs his one-man studio Hedof - through which he works on a mixture of both personal and commercial projects…he’s worked for clients including Red Bull, Mini, Anorak magazine, Lipton Tea, and Casio G Shock.

What we love is Rick’s humorous approach to illustration, his use of strong images, typography and bright colours that all make his work really stand out - in the right way. He’s really into print techniques, particularly screen-printing (see above), which he believes helps him to gain the right balance between an illustration looking professional yet tactile, and clever but casual.
